The Lancet Oncology - abstract
A rare BRCA2 genetic variant, known as rs11571833 (K3326X), is
strongly associated with squamous-cell cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract (UADT), a new study reports. BRCA2 is
involved in DNA repair, and previous evidence has suggested significant
associations of this variant with cancers of the lung, oesophagus, and
pancreas, and to a lesser degree, with breast cancer. This new study
adds UADT cancers to the list of diseases affected by rs11571833.
