Editorial
Historically, patient-reported outcome measures assessing symptoms and
physical functioning have not been included in quality-of-care
assessments. This editorial accompanies Smith et al's article on the
innovative Patient Reported Outcomes Symptoms and Side Effects Study
methodology using the Commission on Cancer's Rapid Quality Reporting
System, and it explores methodological advancements needed before
patient-reported outcome measures can be used as quality-of-care
metrics.
