science news item: Dietary factors influence ovarian cancer survival rates

  1. I would think that the diet of these women studied for the 3- 5 years preceding OVCA would be the same diet they continue on after DX. I think it is almost impoosible to determine that it was the diet before and not the diet after unless the diet after DX changed. Am I mising something here?

  2. Hi Pam. I agree and decades of research has not proven any conclusive link to ovarian cancer. Comments welcome (please include reference source/s).

  3. new word - mechanistically ??

"In the paper, the authors wrote, "Although the study does not directly address how diet might mechanistically influence survival time, it does create an awareness of a potential area for future research toward understanding disparities in the cancer survivorship experience."
