Performance characteristics of ultrasound screening in the United Kingdom collaborative trial of ovarian cancer screening (UKCTOCS)

 Conclusion
While specificity of transvaginal ultrasound screening was high, sensitivity was higher for primary ovarian/tubal cancers than for invasive epithelial cancers alone. While 15 operations were done overall for each primary ovarian/tubal cancer detected, 25 were done per primary invasive epithelial cancer. The mortality impact of screening is awaited in 2014.
