March 2016: Commentary on Folkman: “Tumor Angiogenesis Factor” (+ my comment on Dr Folkman)

Blogger's Note: some years ago I had the very good fortune to hear Dr Folkman speak as well to ask him about ovarian cancer/antiogenesis, I came away with a profound sense of his research struggles and his humble persona.  Afterwards, I left a message to see if he would call me as I had a further ovarian cancer question. He called back but unfortunately I missed his message and he died 2 days later. I left his message on my voice mail for a long time before finally deleting it. As a matter of interest he said that ovarian cancer was a good fit for antiogenesis. Certain things stay with you forever.

AACR: Commentary on Folkman

On this 75th anniversary of Cancer Research, let's reflect back on the pioneering work of Dr. Judah Folkman with gratitude for his outstanding scientific achievements, cherished mentorship, and tireless dedication to improving the lives of cancer patients.
