SAN DIEGO -- Anesthesiologists are "uniquely qualified" to help cut opioid use among cancer pain patients by offering alternative treatments including interventional techniques, according to Oscar de Leon-Casasola, MD, of the University at Buffalo.
De Leon-Casasola is the president of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He spoke to MedPage Today about alternative options for pain relief in cancer pain patients during the society's annual meeting here, emphasizing a multi-modal approach to pain management.
