In this systematic review, we aimed to produce a comprehensive
summary of the published literature
assessing patients' views on adverse
events in primary and ambulatory care. As secondary objectives, we
intended to (A) better characterize the methods used by the researchers;
and (B) report the solutions proposed to increase the participation of
patient in their own care.
Methods
Data Sources
This review was designed and reported
according to the PRISMA statement "TRANSPARENT REPORTING of SYSTEMATIC
REVIEWS and META-ANALYSIS –PRISMA.
[13] We performed a
systematic literature search on the databases: MEDLINE, OvidSP, CINAHL,
Cochrane Library, PsycInfo and ScienceDirect, from the earliest
available date to August, 2012. Publications in English, French or
German-language were included. We used Medical Subject Headings (MeSH)
terms and free text terms related to patient safety themes, as
