Every
year cancer researchers and doctors gather at several professional
meetings to present and discuss the latest and most important advances
in basic, translational and clinical cancer research. OCRF Scientific
Advisory Committee member Douglas A. Levine, MD, highlights research
relevant to ovarian cancer patients presented at the American Society of
Clinical Oncology (ASCO), as well as the annual meetings of the
American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the Society of
Gynecologic Oncology (SGO).
Douglas A. Levine, MD Dr. Levine
is Director of Gynecologic Oncology, Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer
Center, Head of the Gynecology Research Laboratory and Professor in
Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Department of OB/GYN at NYU Langone
Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Levine came to NYU in early May
2016, after a distinguished career at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Center.
A prolific researcher and educator, Dr. Levine has
authored or co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and two
textbooks. In addition to his many academic honors and distinctions, he
has been awarded the American Congress of Obstetricians and
Gynecologists Mentor Award; served as co-chair of the American
Association for Cancer Research Special Conference on Ovarian Cancer;
received the 2013 Foundation for Women's Cancer Excellence in Ovarian
Cancer Research Prize; and was recently named the Assistant Dean of the
Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Academy. He is also a member of
OCRFA’s Scientific Advisory Committee, and a former grantee.
After
graduating from Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, Dr.
Levine completed medical school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine,
and his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Mount Sinai Medical
Center.
