Wound complications after gynecologic cancer surgery (risk factors)
CONCLUSIONS: Wound complications are common in gynecologic oncology. Further studies should explore whether risk factor modification decreases complications.

full access: Risk Factors for Colorectal Cancer in Patients with Multiple Serrated Polyps: A Cross-Sectional Case Series from Genetics Clinics-multi-national study
Introduction
Familial non-syndromic
colorectal cancer (CRC) constitutes one of the most difficult and
diverse patient groups encountered in a genetics clinic, with no
apparent germline mutation, an often-indeterminant mode of inheritance,
and questions arising as to how to manage the probands, and how to
identify which family members are also at risk for CRC........ The clinical significance of HPS is that it is associated with an
increased personal and familial risk of CRC ,
and extra-colonic cancers in the wider family setting .
Conclusion
A
decreased odds for CRC was identified in females with multiple serrated
polyps who currently smoke, independent of age and the presence of a
traditional adenoma. Investigations into the biological basis for these
observations could lead to non-smoking-related therapies being developed
to decrease the risk of CRC and colectomy in these patients.

Breast Density Not a Risk Factor for BRCA Carriers - Does not appear to increase risk for breast cancer in women with the mutation - ModernMedicine
MONDAY, July 12 (HealthDay News) -- "Although breast density is a risk factor for breast cancer in the general population, it does not appear to increase risk in women with BRCA mutations, according to research published online July 12 in the Journal of Clinical Oncology...."

Cancer genetics and reproduction
Abstract
Cancers of the reproductive organs (i.e., ovaries, uterus and testes), like other cancers, occur as a result of a multi-stage interaction of genetic and environmental factors. A small proportion of cancers of the reproductive organs occur as part of a recognised cancer syndrome, as a result of inheritance of mutations in highly penetrant cancer susceptibility genes (e.g., BRCA1, BRCA2, MLH1 or MSH2). Recognition of individuals and families with inherited cancer predisposition syndromes and individuals at high risk due to familial cancer clustering is fundamentally important for the management and treatment of the current cancer and for future prevention of further cancers for the individual and their extended family

Follow-Up Study of the Correlation Between Postoperative Com... : International Journal of Gynecological Cancer
Follow-Up Study of the Correlation Between Postoperative Computed Tomographic Scan and Primary Surgeon Assessment in Patients With Advanced Ovarian, Tubal, or Peritoneal Carcinoma Reported to Have Undergone Primary Surgical Cytoreduction to Residual Disease of 1 cm or Smaller
Conclusions: On this follow-up analysis, only age, stage, and residual disease were significant prognostic factors for overall survival. Discordant findings between the primary surgeon's assessment and the postoperative CT scan findings of residual disease was not an independent prognostic factor.

Abstract: Risk factors for epithelial ovarian cancer by tumor dominance, a surrogate for cell of origin -Cancer Prevention Research
"Although limited by small case numbers, our results suggest that tubal ligation may be more strongly associated with tumors of ovarian origin, while family history of ovarian cancer primarily increases risk of tumors of tubal origin. Characterizing risk factor relationships by tumor dominance may elucidate how these exposures alter risk and help to improve prevention efforts."
